Main activity: Support to and coordination of reserach activities in the field of advanced characterization of multi layer epitaxial films obtained from multifunctional oxides and study of the growth processes of such materials.

Activities

  1. Equipment: start-up support activities, tests, procedure optimization, benchmarking (including computational means): Support start-up activities for operational modes of photoemission from a UV lamp (UPS), complemented by XPS. Procedure optimization of a pumping system for the UV lamp; neutraliser and possibly an ion gun; optimization of the data acquisition system from SPA- LEED; cooling system for the X-ray source; optimize sample transfer from the PLD chamber and the sample manipulator within the analysis chamber.

  2. Research seminars, tutorials and lectures on fabrication, characterization and computation of multifunctional materials and nanoscale phenomena: Lectures about photoemission spectroscopy and electron diffraction. Lectures about analysis of photoemission experiments at sinchrotron sources, that can complement our data.

  3. Coordination, support, mentoring and laboratory guidance of research activities about fabrication, characterization and computation of mutifunctional materials and nanoscale phenomena: Coordination and support for scientific project applications in the field of multifunctional oxide materials. Coordination of experiments based on specific probe techniques at large scale facilities. The researcher will support the research activities related to the proposing, designing and implementing of innovative experimental approaches for monitoring film growth and analysing in situ the properties of as-grown films.

  4. Support activities for R&D project applications: preparation, team coordination, planning, individuation of specific objectives: Coordination and support for scientific project applications in the field of multifunctional oxide materials. Experimental proposals at large scale facilities. The researcher will be in charge of proposing, designing and implementing innovative experimental approaches for monitoring film growth and analysing in situ the properties of as-grown films.

  5. Monitoring, management and research guidance for lab procedures (including the lab for compuational targets): The hired reseacher will coordinate and support the actions related to specific security aspects in the context of ionizing radiation and gas handling. Furthermore, he will support the management activities about operational protocols, not only for the analysis chamber, but for the whole MODA laboratory, including the organization of a database for the whole set of samples produced and analysed within the MODA lab.
